How many Google reviews does a tradesperson need to look credible?

Are 10 reviews enough? Do you need 100? The answer depends on your trade and your city — we explain.

There's no universal magic number. But there are psychological thresholds every tradesperson should know.

Customer psychological thresholds

Fewer than 5 reviews: unknown profile. Customers don't have enough data to form an opinion and will go to a competitor with more reviews.

5–20 reviews: emerging profile. You start to look credible. The quality of reviews (detailed text) matters more than the count at this stage.

20–50 reviews: established profile. A profile with 30 reviews at 4.7 stars almost always beats a profile with 8 reviews at 5.0 — even if the rating is lower.

50+ reviews: dominant profile. In most mid-sized cities, you're in the top 5% of tradespeople in your trade.

100+ reviews: authority profile. In big cities (Paris, Lyon, Marseille), that's the level needed to clearly stand out.

What matters as much as the count

Average rating: below 4.0, even with 200 reviews, customers hesitate. The sweet spot is 4.5 to 4.9.

Recency: reviews from 2021 on a 2026 profile build less trust than 10 reviews from the last 6 months.

Content: a review that describes the work in detail is 5× more persuasive than a simple "Great".

How to reach 50 reviews in 60 days

It's achievable if you do 1 to 3 jobs a day. With Artisavis, the request goes out automatically 3 hours after every job. On 30 jobs a month with a 20% conversion rate, that's 6 new reviews per month.
